After spending seven years in local television hard news, Tamara left the daily grind of the newsroom to make a leap of faith into something much deeper. Herself. On her 30th birthday, her soul let it be known that there was a much different path than the one of negativity and fear which had been consuming her time on a daily basis as a television anchor and reporter. She untangled herself from the matrix and plunged herself into the depths of her soul to discover her true calling. She moved away from middle America, and into the heart of the hip, creative, artistic, beach town of Venice where she could hear her soul in the waves of the ocean. She let go of her superficial addictions and began a healing process to detox herself from limiting beliefs. An additional two years at a cutting edge university solidified her work in spiritual psychology not only for herself, but earned her a masters degree in consciousness, health and healing to help others as well. Now, Tamara has emerged as an Avatara of compassion, who has now returned to television with a mission, at a time in our evolution, where the need for conscious and uplifting and empowering television programming is just now taking hold. Her personal journey is sure to inspire and enrich all who bask in her inner glow as she shines with a new purpose. Tamara, who is a quarter Cherokee and an Aries fire sign was born near the Pentagon while her father was stationed in the unit for Assistant Chief of Staff for intelligence/communications from 1958 to 1973 (off and on... one year in Korea... three years at the American Embassy, Bonn, Germany....and one year in Vietnam). He won the Bronze Star in Vietnam for achievement in ground operations against hostile forces. Tamara now returns to her original career in television with a new passion which will possibly help save the world.
Now producing her own show, "IN" with Tamara Henry, because the only way out is to delve in. Tamara goes inside the mind and heart of spiritual and conscious leaders, as she combines spirituality with entertainment. Tamara is now producing, reporting and anchoring positive, community news for Santa Monica 16.
In February of 2007, Tamara started a grassroots movement in Venice Beach to unite local Entertainment Professionals for positive change. The sixth meeting on August 6th, 2007, planned to begin broadcasting the meeting to share with neighbors. A beautiful May afternoon in Crestwood Hills Park lent itself to a day of fun and play at the book signing of Deepak's daughter Mallika Chopra. She has written her second baby book inspired by her two daughters. Mallika is the next guest on Tamara's television talk show "IN" on Sunday night August 12th, 2007 at 8PM on Time Warner. Mallika is the producer of Deepak's movie, based on his book "The 7 Spiritual Laws of Success" which Tamara read in 1997 and listed as her favorite book at the Miss USA Pageant.

Tamara makes an appearance (taped November 18th and aired April 4th 2006) for a daytime show in its third season. Rhonda Britten and Iyanla Vanzant, the life coaches from the daytime reality series "Starting Over," hope to take the desperation out of housewives - one woman at a time. "There's no place that gives people hope," says Vanzant. "People are suffering. They need hope. 'Starting Over' gives them hope." Tamara shared her experience to help Chrisitie make a tough decision.
Oprah Winfrey's "The Big Give" is looking for America's biggest philanthropist. Harpo Productions is looking for people who will stop at nothing to do the right thing. A primetime series in the spring of 2007 over eight weeks and viewed worldwide on television to promote the series. Los Angeles on February 22, 2007.
ABC and Harpo Productionsrevealed the cast for the new competition series Oprah's Big Give debuting March 2, 2008 at 9p. Hosting will be Nate Berkus, interior designer and frequent contributor to The Oprah Winfrey Show and O, The Oprah Magazine. Judges will include chef and philanthropist Jamie Oliver, NFL player and Boys & Girls Club Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez and wife of Chris Rock and charity founder Malaak Compton-Rock.
Oprah Winfrey and Discovery Communications revealed plans to create a new multi-platform media venture, OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network. Slated to launch next year in more than 70 million homes on what is currently the Discovery Health Channel, the project includes Oprah.com. The network's mission is to develop many platforms for women, men and their families to enable them "to celebrate life, to inspire and entertain, empowering viewers around the world to live their best lives." Oprah will be Chairman of The Oprah Winfrey Network, LLC, contributing her talent as well as having complete editorial control and responsible for OWN's programming, branding and creative vision. In this cashless deal, The Oprah Winfrey Network, LLC will be an independent company owned 50/50 by Discovery and Harpo. In turn, Discovery will manage distribution, origination and operations, while both organizations will supply advertising sales services to the joint venture. An executive search for a CEO to supervise the daily operations of OWN will begin immediately.
